DESCRIPTION
The portal is assigned above all to Institute of Chemical Technology Prague students, but it is not limited to them. On this portal are centralized accessible electronic education materials from all university departments, publishing house and library. The portal was created with the cooperation of teachers and students from the study program Informatics and chemistry of publishing and ICT Prague as part Transformation of development programs of Ministry of Education for 2005 - Project No. 602 "An integrated system of electronic study supports ICT Prague." The new version of the portal allows direct administration from each institutes and the data search portal was created for the ICT Press Prague as part of the 243 grant for 2008. Adding caching of portal materials and fulltext search in materials was created in the Laboratory of Computer Science and Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Prague publishing as part of the grant 21/7 for 2009. The portal continues to be carried out under the grant of Ministry of Education Youth and Sports of CR since 2005.
Regarding the prerequisites, the materials are mainly for ICT Prague students, therefore they are quite technical and mostly require basic knowledge of preceding materials, such as basic principles of chemistry or other, depending on the concrete subject. The contents of ESO are vast, ranging from all different kinds of Chemistry to Statistics or Physics. The aim is to provide study material for students that they can use at home or even for teachers or experts as materials from library and publishing house are also available. It is possible for lecturers to use the materials for preparation of their lessons. In addition many exercises with model solutions that can be also used during lectures or as exercises to be completed at home are often provided. All the exercises contain clear instructions and frequently even model solutions.
COMMENTS
The main points of strength are the fact that the materials provided are very complex, vast and provide extensive offer of various topics that are often quite specialized and technical. Also, the materials are all high professional quality as well as they maintain high level of scientific reliability. The main weakness is the fact that all the materials as well as the portal are written in Czech language only. Regarding the pedagogic value, this portal is very useful and enables remote access to educational materials for teachers but unfortunately to czech teachers only as it is all in the Czech language.
