Description of Dissemination Event:
School project “Science from Granny’s Chest Drawers”, developed by 11th and 12th grade students from Aprilov National High School with the support of chemistry teachers involved in Chemistry is all around Network project activities was presented during the International Festival of “Science on stage”. The festival was held from 26 – 28.04.2013 in Germany (Frankfurt an der Oder) and Poland (Slubice). The project interprets attractively and unconventionally the old technology of braiding and dyeing woolen threads on modern scientific level by use of authentic “chark” equipment for braiding woolen threads. The woolen threads are then coloured with natural dyes obtained from plants and herbs gathered by the project participants. A small model of wool-braiding workshop driven by the mechanical force of water was constructed
