DESCRIPTION
This is part of a research project carried out in Ireland that has become part of the international chemcollective. The aims are to simulate chemistry experiments for a variety of pedagogical reasons, including review of actual experiments but also giving the chance to carry out virtual experiments that might reinforce theory more effectively.

Message: The teaching resource described is useful because IrYdium Chemistry Lab is an easy to use program that allows students to select from hundreds of standard reagents and manipulate them in a manner that resembles that of a real lab.
This resource enables students to design and perform diverse experiments in acid-base chemistry, thermochemistry, solubility, and redox chemistry. It is fully translated in Español, Català, Português (Brasil), Français, Ελληνικά, Deutsch, Русский , also an useful Virtual Lab Demonstration Movie is provided
This resource has not attractive aspects such as color or video. One of its weaknesses is its graphics unattractive because it is absolutely two-dimensional, but is undergoing a 3D version. At the same time, as perfectly simulates what happens in a laboratory, in my opinion, is a useful tool to attract the attention of students and high school teachers who do not have access to a science lab
I think that it is useful to help the students in a variety of ways: to broaden their perspectives, to deepen their understanding, to improve the quality of their work, to motivate reflection on their process.

A well-structured virtual laboratory has almost the same benefits as a real laboratory. The innovative approach to teaching, can emerge if the work of the Virtual Laboratory, like those of a real laboratory, aim to learn concepts and do not just be a place for experiments testing the concepts learned in the course of lectures

National Reports on successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry The national reports on chemistry successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry are now available on the related section of the project portal. The reports presents examples of successful experiences in the partner countries and the results of testing of ICT resources with science teachers.
