DESCRIPTION
This is a set of fun science activities and experiments to try at home or in school.
Each activity comes with a set of instructions, list of equipment and photographs and videos to illustrate. There is a simple explanation of the chemistry in each case. They are also curriculum-linked for UK curricula.
Examples include:
Water cycle in a bag
Measuring acidity
Bicarb bloating

The website also has other activities with student and teacher worksheets which are Inquiry-based in their pedagogical structures. Some of these include posters.
COMMENTS
This is a great starting point for primary science activities and Chemistry and Materials are well represented.

Message: The activities of this resource are presented in an innovative and original way which can help motivating young people to the thematic considered.
The fact of using day-to-day resources is valued, as materials are easier to find and cheaper. The non-availability of materials is one of the limiting aspects teachers often point to carry out practical and experimental activities. Therefore, these activities can contribute to more innovative educational practices.
Regarding the exploration of activities, we emphasize the images accompanying the experimental procedures that can facilitate their implementation; however, in some cases, the exploration could be more detailed.
Finally, we highlight the explanation accompanying activities, which helps to understand the processes involved, helping the student and/or teacher to support their practices.

Message: The proposed scientific activities can be used to introduce some chemistry concepts in basic education (under the supervision of a teacher or parent). The experiments are well-documented, with step-by-step procedures, using, in general, simple and inexpensive materials. Chemistry can be found in many applications such as Sports Drinks, Brilliant Bile, Bendy Bones, Bicarb Bloating or Measuring Acidity.
These activities are also a very nice introduction to a science centre that is worth visiting.

National Reports on successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry The national reports on chemistry successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry are now available on the related section of the project portal. The reports presents examples of successful experiences in the partner countries and the results of testing of ICT resources with science teachers.
