DESCRIPTION
Hotpotatoes is a software to create multiple choice which is very popular in the education field. Its achievement is to be very rich and at the same time easy to use. It is made up of several parts:
Jquiz: to create multiple choice and quiz.
Jcloze: to make cloze tests.
Jmatch: to create exercises associating two elements (e.g.: the picture of a molecule or chemical reaction and a text).
Jcross: to create crosswords.
Jmix: to create exercises with sentences to put in the correct order.

Screencasts explain the creation of quiz and cloze tests. The beginning, how to create the first question, adding the next one, saving and exporting the whole in the html format. This format cannot be edited by the student (nor the teacher). The teacher thus needs to keep a version of the document in the “hotpotatoes” format.
The file (and the image folder) can be exported to a website or put on an e-learning platform. In this case, one has to make sure not to display the image folder to the learners.

• The prerequisites: to know how to use a computer
• The contents: 2 screencasts
• The aims: help teachers to create cloze tests and quizzes for students
• Description of the task
• How to use it in class: on an IWB or with a beamer, or with a browser (IE, Safari, Firefox…)
---------------

Jcross= pour créer des mots-croisés.

• Description des tâches
COMMENTS
• Points of strength: it is free and does not require a dongle key to unlock the software. You just need to register with your name in the “help” menu.
• Points of weakness: managing the image is not always easy; one must not forget to join this folder when exporting the html file created. (They must be in the same place: on the desktop or in a same folder…) The software is no longer updated, replaced by NetQuizPro.
• Pedagogic value: the application helps students in scientific remediation.

-------------
