The sections of the portal I've used more were the “teaching resources” and “database of publications” according to my interest to increase the motivation of the students. Particularly I have found very useful several publications related to increase the motivation of the students appearing in the database of the portal, since it offers a current state of the art and gave me new chemistry teaching strategies. On the other hand, the teaching resources have been extremely useful as complementary material in my classes with students in secondary school. One of the strongest points of the portal is the contribution from the different countries in the form of articles that serve to have an overall idea of the problems that affect teaching in chemistry and science. Another strong point is the wide variety of resources for teaching and the option that allows you to classify them according to the frequency of use.

This Portal is an important glance on the European learning and teaching of Chemistry: you can use it not only to search tools and contents for your students, but, as a school teacher, you can also find and get information about the problems and the difficulties in teaching Sciences at different level of school; if you understand why Chemistry is considered one of the most difficult subjects for the students you can do better choice in your teaching method. By surfing on the web site and reading reports I could be a part of a big community of teachers and share everyday issues of teaching activities; I also found a lot of ideas to improve and enhance students’ motivation, designing new practical activities to use in my classes.

The most useful part of the site's ""News Archive"" and ""literature."" First section lets me know what's happening on the project activities and the second reading in several languages secondary literature concerning the chemistry. The strengths of the portal are many. It is simple, easy to use, translated into all languages that have participants is accessible and not least in a normal interface has collected a lot of information. I think participation in the European project to promote the study of chemistry is very important and almost indispensable. This is the way through which students can be stimulated in different ways to move towards a more intensive study of the subject chemicals.

I used section Student motivation-especially Database of Publications. This is extensive and interesting source of information. Individual contributions are supplemented by expert  comments. The comments give feedback to both- the author and reader. I also used the section Teacher training. This section offers interesting links to interesting websites and articles. The strengths of the portal is sharing international experience of useful materials. Portal offers many materials from different angles in one place. Portal also provides a quick overview of current events abroad. I'm glad I know this project. It is the source of many interesting information, ideas, and resources motive for my practice- more heads, more experience.

The “Chemistry is All Around Network” Portal provides specific contents, organized effectively, so that school teachers can explore them in the classroom, improving students’ motivation to study Chemistry. I would like to point out the Portal’s two strengths that, in my opinion, assume particular importance: the variety of the available resources and the papers divulgation and dissemination. The Portal constitutes an added-value for teachers since it incentivizes the knowledge and research sharing, in the scope of Chemistry didactic and facilitates the access to tools that could potentiate and simplify the classroom mediation.

I used teaching resources, students’ motivation and teacher training in the portal. Firstly, teaching resource help us to find lots of electronic materials and find activities related to anything. Secondly, in student motivation part, it helps teachers how to increase students ‘motivation and serves some scientific articles related to technology integrated science education. Finally, I used teacher training part. We can get knowledge about teaching training programs carried out in other countries. We can share our program strengths and weakness with varied national teachers.

The most useful sections of the Project portal have been those ones regarding to “teaching resources”. The tool to research in the website is also useful and works very good to find the more appropriate resources. The main strong point of the portal has been the variety of contents to be used with students. I think participating in a European project related to chemistry enrich the different point of view and allows seeing how teaching is understood in other countries and their different points of view.

“The chemistry is all around us” portal is a great source of information for teachers and also students. It gives you tones of presentations and links to other websites where you can find what you need. It’s also great when you don’t understand something. It gives you a lot of opportunities. Also that it is translated to 12 languages gives you the opportunity to spread it in more countries and show it to more people who are interested in chemistry.

Overall, the portal is well organized and transparent. As useful I consider the possibility to search reviewed teaching approaches along with links to vocational meetings and the database of publications. I used the portal repeatedly when searching articles on strategies of science popularization. The strengths of the portal are lucidity, brevity and availability in languages of the participating countries. It was useful to be involved in a European project on the promotion of the learning of chemistry because this is the way how to get actual overview on particular topic with minimum of time spent.

I used Portal as a useful source of information for my bachelor thesis. This portal is interesting opportunity to find the current state of teaching chemistry in different countries. For me, the most helpful section was the Teachers training - Database of publications. This is a large sum of professional publications. Teaching resources are also interesting sources of ideas. That can be used in varying degrees in practice. It could help to stay in touch with current trends in teaching. This portal is an extensive resource of interesting publications and current research. It is useful for teachers and pupils themselves. Articles are from various areas of chemistry at various levels of difficulty for students. Articles cover full range of needs. The project helps to look into teaching in other countries. It helps to find interesting resources that can be included in teaching practice.

My favourite section of the Chemistry Network Portal is Teaching Resources; I sometimes used it to take ideas to supplement my work in the classroom or to verify the acquisition of certain concepts. In this section there is the possibility of search by type of product, level of chemistry knowledge, pedagogical approach, subject area, target group level, language of teaching resource, and it helps teachers to choose the resource they prefer. Description of each resource and comments about it are very important for the understanding of sites in a different language. The Chemistry Network Portal is very easy to use: the homepage explains briefly what constitutes the project and what materials can be found and offers the possibility of choose between reviews of teaching resources for chemistry and Papers, reviews of publications, conferences information and reports on the topic of students’ motivation and teacher training.

As a student, I found the section Students’ Motivation most useful since it provides me with information about papers, conferences and above all about workshops and virtual meetings. The Chemistry Network Portal has its strengths in that it is innovative, readily accessible to everyone – school teachers, experts , students, etc, and above all with an option to create a username and log in, which establishes long-term connection with the Portal. Being involved in a European project on the promotion of the learning of chemistry was quite useful as I had the opportunity to contact and connect with so many students, teachers and experts from different countries, to exchange ideas with them, while all participants share the same interest in chemistry

As a professor of physical chemistry and chemical education (chemistry didactics), I am particularly interested in the two following sections of the Chemistry Network Portal, of which I made an intensive use in the last months: “teaching resources” and “teacher training”. Some of the teaching resources are useful for my university-level teaching but my main interest in this section is linked with my task as an educator of future secondary school teachers. This database will be used intensively next year with my students to help them prepare teaching sequences oriented towards a pupil-centred approach. The strengths of this database are, to my opinion, (i) an extensive coverage of many aspects of chemistry, and (ii) the description and reviewing of each resource, as well as the comments made by colleagues as possible users. Of course, as always in Europe, language can be a barrier: not all resources are available in English.

Till today I used the sections dedicated to papers and publications in order to comment some of them: I am a member of the national team and it was my task. This gave me the possibility of improving my knowledge on the educational initiatives of other countries and of disseminating them to colleagues sensitive to these issues. A point of strength of the portal is the database of ICT resources and publications freely available. This is important in particular for teachers, in order to get information and suggestions for their daily activities and for their in-service training. The work of selection made by researchers and teachers and the comments and reviews posted beside the above material are a quality assurance and a bridge to connect habits and strategies of different countries The participation in the project gave me the possibility of knowing different ways to teach, different contexts and opinions: this contributed to my professional growth.

It is definitely an issue to consider implementing such activities as those presented on the portal in the school curriculum because they facilitate learning process and allow students to work at their own pace which gives them the feeling of control and authority over their knowledge acquisition process.

I used the sections “teaching resources”, “students’ motivation” (publications and papers) and “teacher training” (publications and papers). These sections were useful to reflect and have a critical view on the themes proposed by the project (students’ motivation and teacher training) and to discover new ICT resources. As a trainer of future science teachers, the problem of students’ motivation is a permanent worry. ICT resources enable me to create new teaching sequences and to test them in the field thanks to the teachers who are partners in the project. The impacts of this research are multiple at the level of teachers’ initial and continuing training as well as in my professional practice. In fact this project has enabled me to revise my educational tools: visual supports and modelling.

The teaching resources section is the most “practical” and concrete to find ideas of training. There is an interesting centralisation of interactive and innovative resources in the database of the portal. Teachers can find opportunities and space to experiment different teaching approaches and methods. And It is also easy to compare institutional curricula for teaching and learning Chemistry in different countries.

I used the teaching resources, which is the most useful section. The main advantage is to have, on one place, some key tools that have been tested by others. It simplifies a little bit my work as it may take hours to surf the web and find “the” great resource that I look for. I discovered new tools and met some experts who shared interesting experience.
Sabine JacqueminTeacher

In the section “teaching resources”, I find interactive websites, among which some power point presentations or animations are very well done and enable me to put pictures on things that can be abstract for students. Thanks to the project, I could find resources using new technologies and thus more appealing for students, inquire about problems encountered by teachers in other countries and see ideas suggested or already carried out to try and motivate students and teachers.

I find all sections as very useful but I think the most important is actually the Students’ Motivation section and I also find it not only for the most useful but also the most interesting. That is because in this section we can learn what is actually happening in the chemistry education and we can make conclusions on the problem. Also all published materials can give us many good ideas on how to improve the chemistry education. It was definitely very useful to me because I learned many things and I’ve got information on what is actually happening with the education in chemistry not only in my county.

I used and currently use mostly the sections “Teaching Resources“ where I am looking for inspiration for popularization of chemistry in the framework of our projects. There are great ideas for various activities, either for education or for popularization. Furthermore I was captivated by the chapter “Students’ Motivation“. In my opinion, the strength of the project is sharing of teaching materials and practical experience in chemistry education and students` motivation. My participation in the project was a useful source of information how other countries deal with this problem. At the same time, it was also an inspiration at planning the steps to change the perception of chemistry by the young generation.

The strengths of the Portal are that by having many resources available and by having many reviewers it is possible to find suitable resources quickly, this shows new ways to present information, imaginative examples and examples relevant to the everyday world. It is encouraging to realise that the problems and challenges that one faces are not unique to any one country and to know that others are working on ways to resolve these problems and to address the challenges. From motivation to literacy there are patterns to be seen and hence we can learn from each other to help promote and improve the teaching and learning of science.

I think the strongest points of the Portal are the diversity of resource typology and the internal search engines that allow access to the resources, that were previously described and categorized. It has been a very good experience and useful for my activity in chemistry education with convergences with multimedia, because I do believe in the educational software potentialities to improve the process of chemistry teaching and learning. I also want to refer the importance that it has for the teachers who are participating in training courses, in order to improve their knowledge about the use of educational software in their scholar practices.

I consider the “Teaching Resources” section the most useful one since it contains information directly connected with my activity both as a University lecturer in technological areas and my additional interest in science communication resources and activities. Nowadays, with the availability of multiple digital resources for teaching and learning chemistry, although students may be apprentices by discovery, they cannot always do it. In this sense, the teacher will be the one to provide them guidance so they can leverage the information and resources, giving them greater freedom in the construction of their own knowledge. The teacher remains the key driver in this process. Thus, the involvement of teachers in a European project to promote the learning of chemistry can further motivate teachers to convey concepts with more enthusiasm to their students.

In this context I often apply for Students Motivation, New Articles and Teacher Training Sections. It is useful for me that I examine the results of related topics in the literature with my researches. Other than that, I think Teaching Resources section is a very usable part of Chemistry Network Portal with its virtual materials for chemistry teaching. I can find the appropriate material for my students who are different levels and ages (primary, lower, secondary, upper secondary school). On this portal as a source of research, new scientific data are shared with the public. In this sense, it is a scientific platform. Portal Chemistry Network gives access to rich information about different approaches and methods to teach Chemistry. It is possible to find out good ideas to overcome the students’ lack of motivation and to motivate them in learning the subject. There are good practices in implementation of ICT in teaching/learning process. I consider the most important strengths are the opportunity to share good practices and professional experience, and that it presents collected in one and the same place scientific and pedagogical knowledge. This is an exceptional piece of work. The Chemistry is All Around Network Portal has a very attractive portal with access to different types of materials that interest strongly several target groups (from students of all ages to teachers of all educational levels to educational researchers).

Besides the obvious usefulness of the Teaching Resources Section, what I also appreciate a lot in the site is the collection of papers and publications, some of which provide the reader with the advances in educational research related to students’ learning, motivation and the effectiveness of teaching methods. What I find really impressive in the Portal is the incredible amount and density of material available behind each click. I personally found very interesting reading the multiple uploaded comments of the transnational discussion, which have helped me see the perspectives of the other colleagues and as a result rethink my own opinions and ideas on different issues (e.g. what makes a teaching resource useful, what motivates students to learn, what motivates teachers to teach more effectively, etc.). This is excellent work done professionally via the close collaboration of 11 different countries.

The Chemistry is All Around Network portal is very interesting because it gives access to very nice and useful teaching resources (for example Chemical Compound of the Month) which provide attractive material such as photos, videos, tables, etc. It is important that this material can also be easily and freely downloaded. The whole organization of the webpage is straightforward and makes it easily managed by the students. Via the available teaching material we get additional help in understanding several chemistry issues and learn about the so many applications of chemistry in our everyday life, which cannot be all available in the limited space of the school textbook. Yes! I do find this portal very interesting since it refers not only to theoretical stuff but also to chemistry experiments. In addition, we learn many things about the connection of chemical elements with our everyday life, which is also very interesting. The material available in some teaching resources help us expand our knowledge horizon and it provides much more applied information relative to the one available in the textbook. For example, I have especially enjoyed going over the material related to “Chemistry chaos” in one of the teaching resources. I just discovered the ""Chemistry is all around network"" Portal and I find it really useful especially with its search tool on the Teaching Resources option. Personally the most exciting thing of this portal is the variety of papers and information in the student motivation. Ιt is well organized in every section and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a useful source of information about different aspects and levels of chemistry teaching (from primary school to tertiary education).

The portal of the Chemistry is All Around Netowrk” project is really very useful and it can provide very important pieces of information to the interested reader. Its content can cover the needs of a very wide spectrum of people, from students of different ages to teachers of different levels (primary, secondary and even tertiary education). Even via a simple “surfing” in the Portal one immediately realizes that a lot of work of very high quality has been done by the involved partners.

This is a project that has produced a large amount of high quality results. The density of the information available in the portal is impressive. The wide range of collection of papers, publications and teaching resources, which are also very well commented by colleagues from different countries, is a big asset of the portal. The portal is easy to use and very useful to anyone involved in chemistry teaching and provides opportunities to get a lot of information in a short time.

Searching in the Teaching Resources section of the Portal, I stumbled on some very interesting ones like General Chemistry Laboratory, Materials for special uses, Virtual Experiment:Viscosity Explorer.

I believe that several teaching resources of the portal could be used as teaching tools for making the lesson more attractive and I also appreciated the fact that one can find simple chemistry experiments which can be done with simple cheap materials found in a common grocery store. In addition, some teaching resources require cooperation with our classmates and in fact I especially enjoyed this experience when our chemistry teacher made use of one such resource in class (Materials for special uses). Finally, I felt that this type of teaching resource helped me a lot to understand better how the real world works (some small part of it anyway) without being tiring or boring.

The variety of the teaching resources which gives teachers the potential of incorporating interesting teaching material in their chemistry classes is one of the most positive characteristics of this portal. What I also found very useful is the possibility for teachers and all interested parties to learn more about the educational research conducted in the fields related with the three main project topics, i.e. students’ motivation, teacher training and successful teaching experiences/good practices. This is possible via the collection of papers and publications and the comments made on them. Even though there exist, in my opinion, some papers and publications where the empirical research conducted has some problems in its design and in the interpretation of the results, I believe that overall also from the purely scientific point of view the evaluation is positive.

I find some of the available teaching resources to be very interesting. The ones that contain videos (besides text and pictures) make understanding much easier. In addition, some teaching resources are organized in a way that promotes interaction with other students, something that also makes the lesson more interesting. Resources such as “Materials for special uses” give us the opportunity to better comprehend everyday life phenomena and realize that so much chemistry is involved in all types of materials. Studying chemistry becomes more enjoyable via the use of teaching resource that includes videos and animations.

Our teacher showed us the teaching resources available in the Chemistry is All Around Us website (www.chemistry-is.eu). I found “Chemistry in Everyday life” to be especially interesting mainly because I learned a lot on the carbon cycle in nature. The water cycle section is also good, however we know much less about carbon and this resource provided me with useful new knowledge related to something that plays such an important role in our lives but for which we learn very little at school. The most interesting parts of the resource were the videos and the activities.

The teaching resource of the “Chemistry is All Around Us” website is interesting basically due to the use of videos and images. I liked more the part of the resource which was related with chemistry in the kitchen because it was related with materials found in every home. I found the ICT based teaching resource more pleasant than reading a textbook, due to the livelihood of the experiments and the interactivity. What I appreciate more generally about the “Chemistry is All Around Network” portal is that via the use of technology (chemistry simulations, virtual laboratory, videos, etc) one has the possibility to discover different applications of chemistry and pieces of knowledge which could not easily be included in one single textbook, no matter how good it is. Via the use of ICT one has the possibility to develop new skills and competences in chemistry and science in general.

I have mainly used the “teaching resources” section. I have been especially interested on “teaching resources” in order to used it with my students in the classroom. The strong point of the portal is the variety of contents offered in different fields. Being involved in a European project related to Chemistry enriches the teaching experience of any teacher. In addition it allows to know how taught Chemistry/Sciences in other places.

The most interesting sections that I found in the Project portal, have been the one regarding to “motivation of the students” and I've also read the last section built on “best practices” and the papers reagrding to “teacher training” in other countries. I found very interesting the section of “teaching resources” and easily to apply within the classroom. As a strong point I emphasize the variety of contents and the diversity of points of view. This European project is very rewarding since I see different opinions and different problems regarding to teaching Sciences at school, and I found very interesting to know what strategies they employ to solve their problems.

The main use I have made of the Project portal, has been the “teaching resources” section. I've also read part of the documents that appear in other sections like motivation for students in Science and the “best practices”. The most important section in my opinion is the one concerning to “teaching resources”. It can be used in the classroom and some of them allow me to work the subject with students in a different way. The strongest point is the wide variety of resources appearing in the portal and a classification that allows you to find what you want easily. The participation in a European project seems interesting by the exchange of points of view with teachers from other countries.

The sections that I have udes more from the Project portal has been the one about “resources”, the “data base of publications” regarding to the motivation of students learning Chemistry and the best practices teaching Chemistry. I found very interesting the publications concerning the motivation of students in Science lessons and the best practices from the Project portal “data base”, because it gave me new approaches in the field of teaching Chemistry. In the other hand, the teaching resources has been very useful for me as complementary material in my classroom. One of the strenghts of the Project portal from my point of view is the quantity and quality of the materials and resources founded regarding to teaching Chemistry at school because it gives to te teachers a huge variety of technics and ways to teach Sciences in the classroom. I also highlight the teaching resources and its clasification in the Project portal. The usefulness of European projects is an evidence, especially regarding to Scientific areas. The connection between teachers which promotes the exchange of knowledge among european countries is one of the best points, and also the possibility to share best practices and teaching experiences.

The more used sections has been the ones referred to “resources” and “best practices”, where I read and took some documents to aspply in my classroom. I used the “resources” at my classroom, as well as some proposals from “good practices” teaching Chemistry. From my point of view, the strenght of the Project portal is the large quantity of information and documents about teaching Chemistry that could be applied in the daily lessons. European projects are more and more neccessary because learning pathways are increasing its globality. The Exchange of experiences and knowledge is quite useful and neccessary and it helps to give solutions for current problems for teachers and learners in their daily practices.

I have found the Chemistry All Around Us Network an excellent project to be involved in, I am not teaching senior chemistry but I am involved in junior chemistry. I have found some of the interactive resources very useful in my junior classes – and my students loved them. I have chosen to review the more biologically-slanted papers to review – and have found them imaginative and interesting. It is always very useful to see how other countries do things. The variety of papers and resources is immense. I have especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet with and discuss issues with other like-minded science teachers/experts – a very important element of life-long learning.

I am a teacher based in Dublin and I teach junior science and senior cycle chemistry. For the past two years I have used the resources available on the Chemistry Is All Around Us network portal. There are several elements to the portal that a teacher may find useful. First and foremost the teaching resource section; in this section of the portal you can use the search engine to find useful software, worksheets or websites to aid you when teaching a topic at a particular level. The search engine helps to narrow down the appropriate resources. Although it may take a little bit of time to look though them, you will always find something that will make learning more interactive and exciting. There are three other sections in the portal, these present research papers and publications on various topics. Under the heading “Student Motivation” you will find useful papers and publications that discuss strategies used by teachers and groups in other countries across Europe to motivate students to study Chemistry. Some of the fears and misconceptions students have of studying Chemistry are discussed in these papers. This section also contains suggestions as to how we as teachers can help solve these problems where applicable. Another heading entitled “Successful Experiences” contains papers and publications that discuss and review the success of teaching and learning strategies used by Chemistry Teachers in many European countries. In here you will find suggestions and differing viewpoints on how to teach abstract topics. Finally, a collection of papers and publications under the heading “Teachers’ Training” are also available. These papers and publications offer an interesting insight into teacher training and standards in other countries. Personally, I use the teaching resource section of the portal almost every day when preparing classes or looking for new ways to teach a particular topic. The interactive resources are particularly useful, as ICT is now an integral part of the teaching and learning experience.

I found participating in the Chemistry Network extremely beneficial. It was interesting to see how science is being taught in other countries. Each time we met I left feeling energised and enthusiased about teaching and had lots of New ideas to try in the classroom.

All in all I did find participating in the programme extremely beneficial and worthwhile.

One section of the portal that I used was “A Química das coisas (The Chemistry of Things)”. This resource was a series of two minute videos showing how chemistry plays a part in the students’ everyday lives. It had a list of short videos ranging from the chemistry of chocolate to the chemistry of dreams, which served to introduce pupils to the idea that, chemistry IS all around us. The video clips were subtitled as they were recorded in Spanish. It did serve its purpose as a quick motivational tool to engage students at the start of a new topic. The network portal is extremely useful in the manner in which teachers can now use a variety of stimulating resources to engage and motivate students in the subject of chemistry. It is particularly useful for introducing topics, revising topics and carrying out quick simulations of experiments. To improve the site I think that the “search by” boxes could be more descriptive. At the moment this area is too broad. For example divide each of the subject areas into sub topics to make it easier for the teacher to navigate. Topics like “rates of reaction”, “equilibrium” etc. should be put into the search areas, as these are the topics that most teachers need most frequently throughout the course of the teaching year. Being involved in a European project of this nature has been a very worthwhile experience. It provided both my students and me with more resources and a greater understanding of how chemistry could be taught and learned in the classroom.

The section of the portal that I have used is the sections on Teaching Resources, Students Motivation and Teacher Training. I found, as a teacher, that the most useful section of the portal was the section on Teaching Resources. I have used several of these resources in my teaching of Chemistry. The strength of the portal is the amount of information and teaching resources that it contains. I have found the reviews to also be helpful. It is interesting to get the opinions of teachers and experts from all around Europe.6. I feel there were two benefits in being involved with the European project. Firstly, I feel that I have learned many things from my colleagues in Ireland. We have discussed the Irish system and the difficulties in teaching certain aspects of the Chemistry course and I have tried many new techniques that have been suggested. Secondly I have been made aware that these difficulties are not unique to Ireland and the problems arise across Europe. I have been very interested in how others have tried to overcome these difficulties.

It was useful to be able to directly upload comments onto the portal. It is useful to have a directory of papers and publications on the subject. As a primary teacher it made me aware of how teachers often fall into the trap of teaching content rather than using an experimental approach to teaching science. The primary curriculum specifies that teachers use a discovery learning approach to teaching all subjects, but if teachers feel uncomfortable with the subject then they often revert back to the familiar technique of just teaching the content presented in the text book.

Looked at several of the Teaching Resources and some papers on student motivation and teacher training. The Teaching Resources are probably the most useful in terms of direct relevance to chemistry teachers in the classroom. The strength lies in the variety of resources across several areas (chemistry, environmental science etc.) and the many levels in terms of appropriateness for a variety of age groups/level of prior knowledge. It has been very useful to see so many resources brought together; a huge choice of material has been provided which may be of use either in the classroom or for individual students to follow up. It has also provided a forum for teachers to share ideas and experiences as to what actually works in a classroom situation, and the papers on both student motivation and teacher training are of interest.

I used the database of Teaching Resources and the section Teacher Training. The first one to find ideas and ITC resources useful at school with my pupils, the second one for my activity in teachers’ training. Recently I also consulted the successful experiences section and I found several interesting hints for teaching that deserve to be transferred in class with my students. The database of teaching resources offers ideas to improve science lessons and a range of sites that can be accessed directly during the lessons (in my class there is a whiteboard). The Chemistry Network Portal is easy to use: the search engine named ""search by"", present in each database section, allows you to find quickly the resource or the paper you need, looking for pedagogical approach, subject area, level of school etcetera... The teaching resources section is a very useful database of tools for teachers that aims to integrate their teaching methodologies with ICTS. To be involved in a European project was useful to become more aware of the importance of chemistry teaching at school, in all school levels but, above all, in the basic one, the primary school, that is where I work.

I used the teaching resources section that is very useful in providing ICT resources as function of the topic to be taught or of the school grade. In particular, I used with my pupil the following resources:

www.tavolaperiodica.it ,

www.esero.ie/topic/water-treatment

www.tavolaperiodica.unicam.it/ www.whatischemistry.unina.it/it/home.html

Moreover, I consulted the section dedicated to students’ motivation. The teaching resources section. I searched in this section some suitable resources in order to integrate my lessons of chemistry and I found many tools that can be used fruitfully at the lower secondary school. For my needs, the strength of the portal is the providing of selected ICT resources and of publications describing laboratory activities easy to be carried out. Participation in the project has been an important stimulus for my students as they felt involved and active actors of an important event as a European project. In addition, the consultation of the various online resources created positive moments of reflection / discussion in class and triggered the curiosity for the discipline

I used Teaching Resources section and publications on students' motivation to find materials for my pupils. Recently I also cached some useful ideas from the publications collected in the “successful experiences” section. Teaching resources are useful, rich and wide. The same can be said for the “successful experiences” section. The collection of material selected and/or produced by experts of different European countries is the first strength of the portal. The material collected is useful also because contains suggestions and practical examples that can help teachers to improve their work in the classroom (i.e. teaching resources, testing, papers about successful experiences). Finally the portal focuses on the exploitation of new technologies and on the valorization of inquiry based methods. I found useful suggestions and resources about the teaching of chemistry/science that I can apply with my pupils. I think that many other teachers can get help from the project in order to improve their teaching method.

I used all the sections containing paper and publications. Namely I consulted the section dedicated to students’ motivation, the section dedicated to teacher training and the section dedicated to successful experiences. I found useful to read the national reports written by the partners in order to present the national situations in relation to the three thematic areas. It was interesting to compare the Italian situation, and my personal experience in particular, with experiences and school realities of other countries. It emerged that different countries have similar problems in teaching chemistry at school and it was useful to know initiatives and possible solutions to these problems. The strength is the variety of studies, information, experiences that the portal provides to every user interested. It was useful to realize that my experience corresponds in part to that of colleagues living in different realities, in Italy but also in other countries. It was useful to share problems and attempts to fix them during the workshops. It was also useful to know experiences and solutions proposed by teachers of other countries, through the project portal.

I explored all the sections of the portal but in particular I used the teaching resources section and the link section. The exploration of the Chemistry Network Portal helped me to join the objectives of the project, and to find suitable resources to carry out the project with the students. The Chemistry Network Portal is built in a clear way, is full of proposals and gives you the choice of documents in various languages; moreover it has a nice graphical interface, also eye-catching. The involvement in the project represented an opportunity of comparison with other school realities: both during the workshops and by reading publications and report uploaded on the project portal. It was the stimulus to seek new strategies for the teaching of chemistry and science in general.

I used the whole portal and got acquainted well with all its contents. Since I joined the project last year I have been responsible for a variety of activities on the portal but also a great technical support to all the teachers and experts on the Polish side. The most useful section was the section to upload of materials to be reviewed and a comments section. Easy to use, intuitive and user- friendly. I find the portal technically well-organised and structured with all the contents clearly presented to the user. All sections are visibly marked which enables quick navigation and search of the materials needed. I don’t think the portal has any flaws or disadvantages. I found everything pretty much functional. My involvement in the project has been a great experience. I managed to meet teachers and other experts and share views and opinions on the aspect of teaching chemistry. I was also honoured to work with Polish teachers and experts during the workshop on Successful experiences. The sections that I consulted were: successful experiences and teachers training. They are the ones that interest me the most at this point in my career, but I recognize that all the others have their virtues. The most useful part of the portal, considering my duties as coordinator of teacher training, was the ""Teachers’ Training” section, where I consulted many articles and learned about the different dynamics of in-service teacher training. Among the strengths of the Chemical Portal Network, I would like to highlight the good presentation, easy access to working papers, as well as the functionality of the different sections. Also, very important, are the resources available to anyone interested in teaching and learning chemistry. My involvement in this project gave me an overview of chemistry teaching, with its limitations and with lots of new methodologies that make the teaching of this science increasingly attractive.

Considering the current demands of the globalized society we live in, science education should be a priority of educators and teachers. I develop research work in the context of science education in the early years and, as such, I believe the Portal ""Chemistry is All around Network” is an asset to teachers not only because of the compilation of resources presented there, but also by interactivity and objectivity in which they are exposed. Teachers can find in the portal a wide range of suggestions and ideas that may contribute to more innovative didactic and pedagogical practices. I also believe, as some studies show, that this kind of resources is essential to meet the needs and expectations of many educators and teachers, who reported needing support, suggestions and resources to improve their practices in science education, in particular, chemistry education.

I used the sections “Teaching resources”, “Students’ motivation” and “Teacher training”. They have been helpful to think about the topics of the project and have a critical point of view on them, and to discover new ICT resources. As a science teacher trainer, students’ motivation is a permanent issue. ICT resources help me create new learning sequences and test them on the field thanks to the teachers involved in the project. The main strength of the portal is to give the possibility to share publications and resources. The impacts of this research are multiple at the levels of initial teacher training, continuing training and my own practice. This project helped me review my educational tools: visual supports and modelling. Indeed many ICT resources have been used in my lessons. This exploitation helps me inform my students about those technologies. Moreover, using those resources concretely I can test their relevance. Within the framework of second year professional practice workshops, I created a working group. Its main aim is to “co-build” educational scenarios in a triangular cooperation “2nd year science students – internship supervisors – HELMo science teachers (Guy Schmetz in physics and me)”. Those scenarios must foster the investigative approach while integrating ICT in a specific way. The cooperation with Inforef provided technical support.

National Reports on successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry The national reports on chemistry successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry are now available on the related section of the project portal. The reports presents examples of successful experiences in the partner countries and the results of testing of ICT resources with science teachers.
