DESCRIPTION
‘Compound Interest’ is a blog by a graduate chemist & teacher in the UK, creating graphics looking at the chemistry and chemical reactions we come across on a day-to-day basis.
You can subscribe to receive new content posted on the site automatically via email by entering your email address in the ‘subscribe’ box at the bottom of the blog home page.
The downloads page contains links to downloads of the high resolution PDFs of infographics on the site. You will need unarchiving software to extract the files once they have downloaded. If you would prefer to simply view the different graphics, you can do this from the infographics page, the link to which is in the sidebar.

There is also a commercial element whereby you can purchase the graphics as posters or other items. However, the graphics are available freely for colour printing.
COMMENTS
These are excellent graphics that really will show students the uses of chemistry in everyday life.

Message: This is an example of an elegant science blog that can keep both students and teachers hooked with its beautiful infographics. A large number of resources is available for download, covering several chemistry topics such as Elements, Food Chemistry, Alcohol Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Everyday Compounds, Colourful Chemistry, Aroma Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry. In particular, I would like to highlight the posted infographics, with interesting content and attractive design. The material provided can be used in introductory classes and as a source of information to motivate students to learn and study chemistry. In the particular case of organic chemistry classes, the examples are very appealing and useful, being easily integrated in an introductory course, even at university level. Some of the infographics could be valuable also as a one page review of a certain topic (e.g. Organic Reactions Map).
According to the author, teachers can download and print the graphics that are shared under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license, for classroom use. In the website, it is also mentioned the possibility of creating translated versions of the infographics – this would be of great added value for use in classes of non-English speaking countries. As an example a Portuguese colleague, who has also seen the webpage mentioned “if the material was also available in Portuguese, I would use it in my Chemistry classes”. So, maybe we can leave it as suggestion to the author.

National Reports on successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry The national reports on chemistry successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry are now available on the related section of the project portal. The reports presents examples of successful experiences in the partner countries and the results of testing of ICT resources with science teachers.
