DESCRIPTION
In this site well selected information about the main types of renewable energy sources is presented:
- Wind energy - uses wind power to generate electricity by wind.
- Water power - is used in hydropower plants and provides about 21% of electrical energy in the world.
- Geothermal Energy - Geothermal power is used. This is a very effective method of using clean, renewable energy, but the places in the world where you can apply this method, are very few.
- Solar energy - solar panels are used to produce electricity and solar panels to heat water.
- Energy from biomass: biogas plants produce biogas or electricity from agriculture waste, food industry and specially grown energy crops. This is the only treatment plant, which produces and does not use energy.
There are quite interesting articles about the latest discoveries in this field.
COMMENTS
The main advantage of this site is that it has easily accessible and understandable information about RES.
The renewable energy sources are interesting and relevant area for people. Our opinion is that the information on this topic in cyberspace is insufficient, which is in fact the main drawback.
This site is mainly for providing information; therefore it has no great scientific and educational value.
We hope that in the future cyberspace will provide larger information on renewable energy sources with better scientific and pedagogical value. The idea is to raise people’s awareness towards renewable energy application in their daily life.
We have been training students in our school for two years now on this program, and we, as teachers, encounter difficulties in obtaining high quality information on renewable energy.
