DESCRIPTION
Prerequisites:

Some of the external applications require downloading (and installing) the application CMD chime. Some interactive simulations require Java and Adobe Shockwave Player. Concepts on general chemistry for secondary school level are needed.

Contents:

It´s an organic chemistry resource based made with Jmol,JME and Hot Potatoes.
You can find here an organic formulation course, contents about molecular structure valence bond theory, hibridization, stereochemistry and stereoisomery, spectroscopy and chemical reactivity. There is a link to a webquest about learning and organic chemistry problems and projects for college students.

Aims:
- To provide students with an study of chemistry which will include the following areas of study: organic chemistry, molecular structure and boundaring.

- To develop and facilitate ICT-based learning activities in the context of teaching chemistry.

Use in classroom:

We can use part of it for experimental activities in different classes of an upper secondary school. But most of it must be used in college teaching for High School levels (1º and 2º of Bachillerato).
COMMENTS
Points of strength:

- Scientific rigor in the contents.
-Good visualization by jmol of many molecular structures.
-Good visualization by jmol of valence bond theory and hybridization.
-A good course of organic nomenclature for secundary levels (high school).
-Very interesting webquest available in the website.

Points of weakness:
-High level of many contents.
-It hasn´t activities on organic nomenclature and molecular structure.

Scientific reliability:
Excellent.

Pedagogic value:
-Most of contents have a pedagogic value for college, but not for secondary education. At secondary education we can use

Message: Very good quality of the contents and good visualization for thr processes.

Strenght in between the technology and coherence of the subject, it has a very high pedagogic value to use with the students!

National Reports on successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry The national reports on chemistry successful experiences to promote lifelong learning for chemistry are now available on the related section of the project portal. The reports presents examples of successful experiences in the partner countries and the results of testing of ICT resources with science teachers.
