REVIEWER’S COMMENTS ON THE PUBLICATION
The Article was written by mgr inż. Hanna Rokita a Chemical teacher trainer for the Warsaw city.
In her article the author presents a ready-to- use lesson plan to be implemented in the upper- secondary school.
In the first part of her paper she concentrates on the historical background of the aspirin development and explains how it was created by Felix Hoffman in the Bayer company. She pinpoints the facts that chemistry has always been present in the human life and refers the reader to herbal treatments from the past. She also presents Aspirin’s chemical structure and explains its ingredients or chemical parts, medical effects as well as the harmful side effects if over used or in case of allergies.
In the second part of the paper the author presents the lesson preparation with its full structure, learning objectives and outcomes. A thorough description of the lesson plan is provided and all the steps of the lesson steps are explained. The author also includes a list of the materials and equipment needed in the lesson. Due to mrs Rokita;s teacher training background she is also very detailed in specifying teaching methods and techniques applied in the lesson (talk, discussions, round table, panel discussion, presentation of experiments etc.)
Third part of the articles provides a concise and thoroughly-detailed description of the experiments and observations carried out during the lesson. Students tasks are set and explained so that even a novice teacher or student of chemistry can automatically adapt it to his/ her learning/ teaching environment.
In the last part of the article the author created and attached a student’s worksheet/ handout to be used during the lesson. This is a useful tool to collect all the student’s observations, comments and reflections of the lesson on aspirin.

The article is a very useful tool for both beginning/ novice teachers as well as the more experienced ones. It is methodologically correct and gives novice teachers at least an idea what lesson planning and prepartion should be like.
A really good example of best practice.

Students seeking information on the Internet rather than in textbooks. These are often mistaken and unverified information. The textbook has a unique place in the hands of students. Therefore article considers useful and appropriate for the project. Show the examples of textbooks and comments on their options. Unfortunately, there are comments in Polish and can not be fully understood by all. But it Could be a good source of reference for teachers. If Article available in English, it would be possible to lead a discussion of textbooks in this article, however, the form is not available.
