DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS
This study was carried out on 43 chemistry teachers working in 15 different high schools in Ankara and Samsun in the second term of 2002-2003 and first term of 2003-
2004 academic years to determine their capacity of providing a good learning medium and the reliability of their exams. There was 8 open ended and yes/no questions containing a survey prepared and approved by the experts. The data were collected by carrying out the survey with mutual dialogues with some teachers and some of the
teachers were given the forms and they were asked to fill them in and hand them back
within a deadline. The resulting data revealed that most of the teachers have good
control over the class discipline. It was observed that female teachers were much more
successful in establishing classroom discipline than males and this was not to do with the type of the school graduated. It was also observed that the teachers graduated from the Science Faculties were better in preventing cheating in exams than those graduated from the Education Faculties. It was determined that the most efficient years of the teaching career in the establishment of classroom discipline were the 11th and the 12th years. The teachers have the biggest difficulty in the first years of their career.
